Spring Training: Verlander Strikes Out Five in Win Over Marlins

Justin Verlander tossed 3.1 IP while striking out five as the Astros defeated the Marlins Thursday afternoon, 4-1.

Verlander allowed five hits and two walks but gave up no runs in the win. Corbin Martin recorded the save, throwing 2.0 innings. Martin’s final line: 2.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, and 3 K.

Max Stassi went 2-2 with an RBI and one run scored to lead the Astros offensively. Carlos Correa went 1-3 with an RBI to help defeat Miami.

Jose Altuve was a late scratch from the lineup with “general left side soreness”. He’s considered day to day.
