Correa Goes Yard as Astros Win Home Opener Over A’s 3-2

The home opener had all the glitz and glamor. A George H. W. Bush and Barbara Bush tribute, a military flyover, the roof was open at Minute Maid Park and Carlos Correa seems to be returning to form at the plate.

Houston took down Oakland 3-2 last night as Correa hit a big fly to help the win in front of a home crowd of 43,165. He has now had an extra-base hit in four straight games. Correa has six hits in five games with three doubles and a homerun.

Alex Bregman and Jose Altuve each collected two hits in the win. The Astros as a team had nine hits.

Collin McHugh tossed 6.0 IP allowing just three hits and 1 ER to secure the victory on the mound. He struck out four and walked three.

Hector Rondón, Ryan Pressly and Roberto Osuna combined for 3.0 IP allowing one ER while striking out three. Osuna got the save.

The series will continue today from Minute Maid Park with Wade Miley taking the hill for the Astros. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10pm.
