Springer's Walk Off Single Caps a Wild Extra Inning Win for the Astros

After almost five hours, a grand slam and a violent, old school collision at home plate, the Astros beat the Angels in 10 innings. George Springer provided an RBI single in the 10th inning to propel Houston to an 11-10 win Sunday afternoon.

Jose Urquidy made his second professional start Sunday and lasted just 2.1 innings. Urquidy gave up five earned runs, all in the second inning. He surrendered eight hits while striking out four. That second inning led to the Angels being ahead 7-2 by the 5th inning. The Astros cut into the lead on an RBI single by Yordan Alvarez and then an RBI double by Tyler White. Collin McHugh would enter for Houston and give up a solo home run to Mike Trout to extend the LA lead to 8-4.

Yuli Gurriel hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 6th to tied the game at 8. With the home run, Gurriel has homered in five consecutive games and the team set a franchise record with 8 grand slams in one season. Trout homered again in the 8th to take the lead back for the Angels, 10-8. Alvarez hit a two RBI single in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game at 10. Jake Marisnick tried to score on a fly ball to right field but bowled over catch Jonathan Lucroy for a big time collison. Marisnick was called out for running over the catcher as the play was reviewed and upheld.

Ryan Pressly pitched a lights out 10th inning and eventually received the win on the mound. Josh Reddick doubled to start the bottom half of the inning which led to Springer's game winner.

Michael Brantley had four hits while Springer and White both had three hits. Tony Kemp hit a two run homer early in the second inning.

The Astros enter the All-Star break with a 57-33 record, 1st in the AL West.
