Texans' Justin Reid hosting relief drive for Hurricane Ida victims

The destruction caused in Louisiana by Hurricane Ida triggered a lot of emotions in Texans safety Justin Reid, a native of Geismar in Ascension Parish.

Reid has partnered with the Texans to host a relief drive Friday at NRG Stadium from 9 a.m to 5:30 pm. at the Green Lot.

“Louisiana is my home and my heart is broken after talking to family members and seeing images of the devastation in the news," Reid said. "This tragedy has been an eye opener for me to do more for my home. I am beyond appreciative to the Houston Texans for their commitment and support. My family and I stand with everyone in Louisiana to lend a helping hand,”

The Texans are giving donors a voucher for two tickets to the season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a limit of one voucher per car.

The public is being asked to donate : non-perishable food, bottled water, diapers, toiletries, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant shampoo and conditioner, Lysol wipes, feminine care products and PPE.

Kroger will assist in transporting the donated items to Baton Rouge with all collections to be donated to the Louisiana Home and Foreign Missions Baptist Convention. For those who want to donate via CashApp: $LHFMBC. For additional information about the Louisiana Home and Foreign Missions Baptist Convention, go to www.Lahfmbc.org.
