We knew Texas remaining in the Big 12 for one more season was going to be awkward for everyone. At Big 12 Media Days this summer, shots were taken from all across the Big 12 at both Texas & Oklahoma as they have one foot out the door, on the way to the SEC next summer.
Last week at a Texas Tech event, Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark said publicly to Tech head coach Joey McGuire: "I’m not going to put any pressure on you, but I’m going to be in Austin on Thanksgiving. And you better take care of business like you did right here in Lubbock last year (beating the Longhorns).”
So on Monday, Texas Coach Steve Sarkisian spoke with the media, and threw a dart back in the direction of Yormark, saying "I got a letter from the commissioner about sportsmanship the day before that speech. So I am trying to figure out what we are promoting to our student athletes.”
Needless to say, there will be plenty of more barbs thrown from the Big 12 in the direction of Texas before this season ends.
