Astros Advance to ALCS for Seventh Consecutive Season

HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Astros have advanced to the American League Championship Series for the seventh consecutive season following today’s 3-2 win over the Twins in Minnesota.

The Astros will have home field advantage in the AL Championship Series as they host in-state rival Texas Rangers in Games 1 and 2 of the ALCS on Sunday, Oct. 15 and Monday, Oct. 16, respectively (start times are TBA). All games will be televised on FS1/FOX, and air on SportsTalk790 in Houston.

The Astros have now advanced to an unprecedented seven straight ALCS. The Astros are the second team in history and only in the American League to advance to seven-straight ALCS (2017-2023), a feat that has only been accomplished by one other club in Major League history, the 1991-99 Braves. That Braves team advanced to every LCS played from 1991-99, excluding the 1994 season, which was not played.

The Astros are 21-6 in ALDS games since 2017. All time, the Astros are 33-27 all time in the Division Series. Since the 2017 season, the Astros are 8-4 in ALDS road games and have clinched ALDS series in true road games now on five occasions: in 2017 (at BOS), 2018 (at CLE), 2021 (at CWS), 2022 (at SEA) and 2023 (at MIN).

Overall, in franchise history, the Astros have now advanced to the LCS 10 times. The first three times were in the National League, advancing to the NLCS in 1980, 2004 and 2005. In the American League, they have advanced to the ALCS 2017-23.

Baker boasts 54 postseason managerial wins, fourth all-time, including a 31-15 record in the postseason with the Astros. Baker’s 31 postseason wins in four seasons are the most in club history. He has now reached the LCS seven times as a manager, having already reached it in 2002-03 and 2022-23.

WINNING WAYS:

The reigning World Series champions, the Astros have advanced to the World Series four of the last six seasons (2017, 2019, 2021 and 2022), winning twice (2017 and 2022).

The Astros 90 postseason games played since 2017 are the most in the Majors and their 56 postseason wins in that span are also the most in MLB.
