While the Astros will take their time on their search for their next manager, General Manager Dana Brown told KPRC2 that their immediate priority will be addressing their bullpen, with several guys now becoming free agents like Hector Neris, Phil Maton and Ryne Stanek.
"We've got to try to find some bullpen help," said Brown. "It may be from within."
He went on to say that the core of the bullpen and rotation are still in tact, and that they will also need to add a backup catcher to Yainer Diaz, with Martin Maldonado becoming a free agent.
Brown's wording is interesting, as some believed the Astros could add a veteran starting catcher to the roster in the absence of Maldonado, but Brown's statement implies Diaz will be the every day catcher in 2024.
