According to Mark Feinsand, former Astros catcher Martin Maldonado is drawing interest on the open market from several teams.
In addition, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports that Maldonado and the Astros have interest in pursuing a reunion this offseason, according to multiple sources. If this were to happen, Yainer Diaz would be the Astros primary catcher in 2024, with Maldonado serving as a backup and perhaps being Justin Verlander’s primary catcher.
