There were rumors of an issue hampering New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole, now it is confirmed that he will miss at least a month due to an issue with his pitching elbow.
The Houston Astros open the 2024 season at home vs the New York Yankees, and now know they will not see the reigning Cy Young Award winner Cole in that series.
With Astros ace Justin Verlander set to begin the season on the IL, we go from seeing what could've been a Verlander-Cole matchup on Opening Day to very likely a Framber Valdez-Carlos Rodon matchup, though Opening Day starters have not yet been officially announced.
The Astros travel to New York to face the Yankees on May 7th, and will not see the Yankees again the rest of the season.
