Former Astros Manager Dusty Baker has been a part of TBS' pre & postgame coverage this week, and he made an appearance on a podcast, "The Show with Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman," and touched on a number of topics including his time in Houston.
Among the highlights from the conversation:
- Baker said he battled with the front office at times, and was bothered that he inherited AJ Hinch's staff when he took over as manager, saying he was only able to choose one person on his staff.
- When asked about Astros free agent third baseman Alex Bregman, Baker said, "I hope they sign Bregman, because he's one of the pillars on that team." Baker said Bregman was a guy who could send a message to the team whenever they needed one.
- Baker also praised Kyle Tucker, saying he can do everything, and called Framber Valdez the best lefthander in baseball.
- In addition, Baker raved about his time in Houston, as well as owner Jim Crane.
