On Wednesday morning, the Houston Astros announced that starting pitcher Ronel Blanco will undergo right elbow surgery next week, which will sideline him for the remainder of the 2025 season. He is anticipated to return during the 2026 season.
Manager Joe Espada confirmed Wednesday afternoon that it will be Tommy John surgery, which will have Blanco out over year, meaning at best he could potentially return late in the 2026 season.
