Astros Sign Right-Handed Pitcher Nate Pearson

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros have signed right-handed pitcher Nate Pearson to a one-year Major League contract, Astros General Manager Dana Brown announced today. Additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In 2025, Pearson, 29, split time between Triple A Iowa and the Cubs Major League club. In his 38 appearances at Iowa (one start), he recorded a 2.22 ERA (11ER/44.2IP) with 57 strikeouts, a 1.14 WHIP, a .175 opponent batting average and seven saves. In his 11 appearances with Chicago, he was 0-1 with a 9.20 ERA (15ER/14.2IP). He was released by the Cubs on September 21.

Pearson has spent parts of five Majors League seasons between the Toronto Blue Jays (2020-21, 2023) and the Chicago Cubs (2024-25). In his 123 career MLB appearances (six starts), he has tallied 160 strikeouts in his 156.2 innings of work while posting a 5.17 ERA (90ER/156.2IP). Pearson was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays with the 28th overall selection in the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
