After parting ways with hitting coaches Alex Cintrón & Troy Snitker this offseason, the Houston Astros appear to have their new hitting coach - Victor Rodríguez, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart.
The 64-year old Rodríguez spent the last two seasons as the San Diego Padres' hitting coach. Prior to that, he had length stints with the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Guardians, serving in the same capacity.
Snitker departed this offseason, landing with the Mets, while Cintrón landed with the Rangers. Pitching coach Bill Murphy also departed, going to the Pirates.
The past two seasons, the Padres have ranked in the top 10 in hitting. Last season, the Astros ranked 21st in runs scored and 26th in walks. Read more below:
