Astros Split Doubleheader with White Sox

The Astros battled the White Sox in a doubleheader Tuesday after game one of the series was rained out Monday night. Houston won game one, 6-2 but lost game two, 4-1.

Zack Greinke his second start as an Astro behind home runs from George Springer and Jose Altuve. Greinke tossed six innings while surrendering two earned runs on seven hits. He walked two and struck out six. The win gave Greinke his 12th win of the season. Springer, Altuve, Yuli Gurriel and Robinson Chirinos each had two hits in the win.

Gerrit Cole was a late scratch prior to the start of game two after he reporting pain in his right hamstring. He's listed with "right hamstring discomfort". With Cole being scratched, Chris Devenski got the start on the mound. Devenski threw two innings while giving up one earned run on five hits and was issued the loss. Joe Biagini pitched three innings, Hector Rondon came in for two innings and Joe Smith tossed an inning. Springer had the lone RBI for Houston with two hits in the loss. The Astros only manufactured four hits in game two.

Game three of the series will be a quick turn around for both teams with a 1:10PM first pitch. Wade Miley will take the mound for Houston Wednesday afternoon.
