Retired Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson, former University of Texasquarterback Vince Young and former Texans head coach and Texas A&M and St. Pius X quarterback Gary Kubiak are among the new names up for election to the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco.
Selection committee members will vote later this spring, and the public can register through July 1 to become a member of the Hall of Fame and cast a ballot. The induction class will be announced in August, and honorees will be inducted April 7, 2018, in Waco.
Listed on the primary ballot alongside Johnson, Young and Kubiak are retired NBA all-star Chris Bosh of Dallas, Sam Houston State softball coach Bob Brock, former Milby High School and NFL wide receiver Donald Driver, retired Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Jewett Leon high school volleyball coach Billy Bob Evans, former University of Texas basketball player and U.S. Olympic team coach Nell Fortner, Mary Hardin-Baylorfootball coach Pete Fredenburg and Olympic gold medal-winning speedskater Chad Hedrick of Spring.
