Texas Beats Georgia in Sugar Bowl, 28-21

NEW ORLEANS, La. — Sam Ehlinger found the end zone three times on the ground and went 19-of-27 through the air to lead No. 14 Texas (10-4, 7-2) to a 28-21 victory over No. 6 Georgia (11-3, 7-1) on Tuesday night in the 2019 Allstate Sugar Bowl inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

The Longhorns outgained UGA in rushing yards 178-72 and turned the Bulldogs over twice. Ehlinger earned Most Valuable Player honors for his performance, as his three rushing touchdowns tied the Sugar Bowl record for a quarterback. Ehlinger finished with 16 rushing touchdowns on the season, a new school record for a Longhorn quarterback.

Tuessay’s game concluded the 2018 campaign, one that saw the Longhorns go 10-4, their most wins since the 2009 season. UT opens the 2019 season on Aug. 31 when they host Louisiana Tech at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium.
