With the 54th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans selected cornerback Lonnie Johnson Jr. from Kentucky. With the loss of Kevin Johnson and Kareem Jackson, Houston desperately needed some secondary help. Lonnie Johnson may be asked to play early with Johnathan Joseph not getting any younger.
One pick later, with the 55th overall pick, the Texans selected offensive tackle Max Scharping. With the 23rd overall selection of OT Tytus Howard on Thursday, the Texans have added two young pieces to their offensive line to help protect Deshaun Watson. Ideally, both guys could slide in as the starting left and right tackles.
