It will be a very busy weekend for the Astros in Los Angeles for the All-Star Game. With the Astros staff set to coach the American League team, it is expected that anywhere between four or five Astros players will be named to the team with three of them possibly starting in Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez and Justin Verlander.
One of the best parts of the break is getting to see the future stars of each organization participate in the Futures Game. This year the Astros will be represented by two players, pitcher Hunter Brown and catcher Yainer Diaz.
Both players are currently at Triple-A with the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. Brown is having a spectacular season and is seemingly stuck due to the fact that the Astros are loaded in their big league rotation. Overall this season Brown has appeared in 16 games, 11 of which have been starts, compiling a record of 6-3 with a 2.38 ERA, striking out 97 hitters across 72 innings pitched.
Yanier Diaz is still new to the Astros organization, coming to Houston in the trade that sent Myles Straw to Cleveland last season. He has split his time this season between Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Sugar Land. He has looked great at the plate this season hitting .303 across both levels with 14 home runs, 61 runs batted in, while posting an OPS of .866.
