According to People, Paige Spiranac is speaking out about body-shamers coming at her on social media. The former pro golfer, SI Swimsuit model, and massively popular Instagram "golf girl" says there were so many rude comments on a recent video that she had to delete some.
"Honestly, the amount of men calling me 'fat' on this post is next level lol. I've had to delete so many comments which I almost never do."
"I know my body is a big part of my brand and that comes with a territory, but it's hard to maintain my ideal weight all the time year after year. I have to work very hard in the gym and with diet"
"It doesn't come naturally to me. It can be defeating when people call out my body insecurities."
Spiranac also shared that she would like to start sharing more about her fitness plan and diet to help others, both women and men, who feel similar pressure. She says she's changed her mentality around working out to make it more about feeling good than looking a certain way. On the topic of men dealing with insecurities about their bodies, she added the following:
"I know I have a male dominated audience and wanted to open up the floor to hear about your experiences with body insecurities."
"I don't think it's talked about enough how men are also body shamed. We all feel the pressure to look a certain way."
Anyway, I think the takeaway here is mostly "Don't be a jerk." And maybe follow Paige for some tips on your fitness/wellness journey.
