The inevitable has finally happened as the Astros have clinched the AL West tonight thanks to their 4-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. It is the fifth time since joining the American League that they have won the division as they are set to make their seventh overall appearance in the postseason as an American League club. This will be the 16th time that the franchise has played in the postseason and their 11th division title overall. To go along with their five AL West titles, they won the NL Central on four occasions and the NL West a total three times. The club will have a bye in the first round of the postseason and with the win tonight they have cut down their magic number for the best record in the American League to seven.
