Houston Chronicle writer Jonathan Alexander joins Next Up as the Texans prepare for their third preseason matchup against the New York Giants.
Starters are expected to play "at least a quarter, maybe longer" on Saturday, Alexander said.
The Texans continued training camp in Houston after a week in Ohio, and many spectators reported that Wednesday's practice was high-energy. The afternoon practice was "the most explosive practice that the Texans offense has had," and "the chemistry between [C.J. Stroud and Stefon Diggs] is growing."
Running back Joe Mixon has returned to the practice field after a brief injury. "They hope that Joe Mixon can be a huge contributor to this offense," especially in the red zone.
Alexander also comments on the New England Patriots trading edge rusher Matthew Judon to the Atlanta Falcons. The Texans were one of the teams rumored to be involved in the acquisition of Judon, especially with Houston's lack of depth at the linebacker position. "They'll always look to continue to add pieces."
