Connor: My Favorite Rockets That People Might Forget Played For The Rockets

Did my first of these lists yesterday with my favorite forgotten Astros and today we continue this fun in our life without actual sports being played with some great names we have already forgotten that played here or guys that one day most will forget did play here. Like the Astros list, these are strictly players that I have watched in my life and like that list, I know that many of them did not have some long amazing run here, these are just names that for whatever reason I got way too excited about or names that flamed out hard while they were here. Let the fun begin.

Luther Head (2005-2009)

The dude was not scared of taking any open shot and he could get hot out of nowhere. On top of it all, he just had a great sports name.

Bob Sura (2004-2005)

One of the best three point celebrations you could have, as smooth as it got.

Charles Barkley (1996-2000)

Charles Barkley of the Houston Rockets reacts to t

Sure, it did not end all that well, but his time in Houston was not a complete disaster despite his poundage going up and up each year he was here. I was way excited when he landed here. Still have my Barkley jersey somewhere stored away. Now if he would just say something nice about the team occasionally that would be cool.

Stromile Swift (2005-2006)

Remember the hype machine that surrounded this guy? The dumb teenage version of me completely bought into this guy becoming a monster. That was a swing and a miss.

Josh Smith (2014-2016) (Two Separate Stints)

Los Angeles Clippers v Houston Rockets - Game Five

We don't forget him here locally, but over time, people will forget he was here. When J-Smoove went torched earth hot leading the way in their comeback against the Clippers we all lost our minds watching it. Dude was not afraid to hoist up any shot on the floor. And did you know that he and Dwight Howard played AAU basketball together? Did you also know that Gleyber Torres is only 22 and Juan Soto is only 21?

Bonzi Wells (2006-2008)

Houston Rockets v Orlando Magic

All-time great sports name. I do not know why I thought he was going to be a monster, but for some reason I just did.

Earl Boykins (2012)

Who is taller, Earl Boykins or Jose Altuve?

Mike James (2004-2005, 2007-2008)

Mike James...who? Mike James. His first stint here was awesome, guy could get red hot and go off. Second stint here...not so good.

Von Wafer (2008-2009)

Portland Trail Blazers v Houston Rockets, Game 6

This one is for you, Craig Ackerman. He's not a cookie, he's not a cracker...he's Von Wafer. Freak of an athlete and he was gone before we knew it.

Brent Barry (2008-2009)

Houston Rockets v Los Angeles Clippers

At the end of his long career, really thought he would be more than he was because the guy could flat out shoot from distance for a really long time. Probably would have made a ton of money if he came around later in the NBA's three point era.

Jon Barry (2005-2006)

Houston Rockets v Milwaukee Bucks

Like his brother, could pour it in from outside. Underrated NBA analyst too.

Steve Novak (2007-2008)

Hit one of the biggest shots in Rockets regular season history. That's all I have for Steve.

Marcus Camby (2012)

Houston Rockets v Miami Heat

He had a nice little 19 game run here in Houston at the end of his career. One of those names that you will never remember was a Rocket.

Scottie Pippen (1998-1999)

Overall, a disaster of an addition. His best days were in his past but man was it fun when he landed here. Like Barkley, I went nuts as a kid when they got him. Was the first jersey I ever had from the Rockets that had the actual pinstripes on it for those amazing pajama uniforms. Don't @ me...those uniforms were GOLD.

Glen Rice (2001-2003)

Portrait of Glen Rice

Dude could light it up and I bet most of you forgot he played here.

Kevin Willis (1996-1998, 2001-2002)

BKN-PLAYOFFS-HOUSTON-MINNESOTA

One of these days his arms will grow long enough to fit his huge build.

Ron Artest (2008-2009)

Houston Rockets v Los Angeles Lakers, Game 2

It was just one year of that crazy man now known as Metta World Peace but boy was it fun. Helped the Rockets get past the first round for the first time in years, will never forget him going in the stands to grab himself a sip of beer.

Carmelo Anthony (2018)

Houston Rockets v Los Angeles Lakers

LOLOLOL I'm sorry I just could not help myself. All that chasing of him and nothing but what we expected it to be.

So there it is. I know I have forgotten some but I can't get to all of them. Check back tomorrow for my next list and of course hear me every morning on The Sean Salisbury Show from 6-10 am.
