Before this day in 2006, no Astros player had ever reached the 30 game mark for a hitting streak. Will Taveras changed that, getting one of his trademark infield singles to reach that mark in a game against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.
His streak would not go further than 30, ending in the Astros next game. He had passed Jeff Kent for the longest hit streak in franchise history a few days before this, Kent having hit in 25 straight games in 2004.
