The mystery is over as to who will start game four of the ALDS for the Astros. Dusty Baker announced that it will be Zack Greinke on the mound for the Astros this afternoon. Greinke's status for this series had been up in the air with what the club had said was arm soreness.
Greinke's last start came in game one of the Wild Card Series against the Twins last week, a game that he would not figure into the decision, tossing four innings of one run ball, allowing just two hits, striking out one and walking three. Today's start for Greinke will be the 18th postseason start of his career and his seventh with the Astros. Lifetime in the postseason Greinke is 3-6 with a 4.13 ERA. In his six postseason starts with Houston he is 0-2 with a 4.34 ERA. The Astros have gone 3-3 in his six postseason starts with Houston.
This season Greinke made 12 starts, posting a record of 3-3 with a 4.03 ERA. Three of Grienke's regular season starts in 2020 came against Oakland, posting a record of 1-1 with a 3.71 ERA. Since joining the Astros in 2019, Greinke has made five starts against Oakland, posting a record of 3-1 with a 2.40 ERA. Lifetime against Oakland he has made 17 starts against the A's, including four relief appearances. Lifetime against Oakland, Greinke is 9-3 with a 2.92 ERA.
