It's Bowl Season...Time for Our Spec's Pick and Drink of the Week

Bowl season is here and here is to hoping that we get most of the games that are scheduled knocked out. As always we bring you our picks and drink of the week, thanks to our great friends over at Spec's. Get to your closest Spec's today and get loaded up for the holidays!!! Now let's get to our picks of the week.

Sean: OVER 54 in the Camellia Bowl between Buffalo and Marshall

Both of these teams average some serious points per game this season. In six games this season, Buffalo is averaging a whopping 47.8 points per game, while Marshall is averaging 30.6 points per game in their nine games this year. The over feels like a really easy bet here.

Michael: Costal Carolina -7 vs. Liberty

Costal Carolina has had an incredible year and can make one final statement playing a really good Liberty team. With 12-0 for the taking waiting for Costal Carolina, I think they make the statement and get this win here.

Now let's get to our drink of the week, thanks to our friends at Spec's.

Cranberry Gin Fizz Cocktail

Ingredients:

Cranberry Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup cranberry juice (100% pure cranberry juice for most flavor)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Per Gin Fizz

  • 2 ounces gin
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 1 ounce chilled cranberry simple syrup
  • 1 egg white (pasteurized, if desired)
  • 3-4 drops orange bitters
  • 2 ounces chilled club soda
  • Ice
  • Cranberries and rosemary sprigs, for garnish

Directions:

  1. Make the cranberry simple syrup by combining the cranberry juice and granulated sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until the sugar is completely dissolved, about 4 minutes. Remove from heat, and chill in the refrigerator until cold.
  2. To make the gin fizz, combine the gin, lemon juice, chilled cranberry simple syrup, egg white, and orange bitters in a cocktail shaker. Cover, and shake vigorously for at least 15 seconds.
  3. Remove the lid of the cocktail shaker, place in a handful of ice, close the lid again, and shake vigorously again for 15 seconds.
  4. Strain the gin mixture into a low-ball or champagne glass. Top off with the club soda, and garnish with cranberries and rosemary sprigs, if desired.
