Does The NFL Overprotect The Quarterback Position?

As the week continues to roll on, the NFL has given Texans LB Azeez Al-Shaair a three game suspension regarding his ferocious hit on Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence Sunday afternoon. Aiming to appeal the three game suspension, the league denied the Texans appeal for a lesser suspension now making Al-Shaair miss the most important part of the schedule. Following the Texans coming out of a Bye week they take on the Dolphins, Chiefs, and the Ravens in the span of just ten days before the postseason kicks off. Looking across the league regarding the suspension and hearing from former players and quarterbacks weighing in on the topic, many believe the suspension sends a message but seems to be a bit harsh regarding Azeez hasn't had much a track record regarding suspensions to this degree in his career. Can we say that the NFL has a tendency to overprotect the quarterback regarding the rules and how officials tend to the position?
