Tampa Bay Lightning Shut Out Dallas Stars To Win Second Stanley Cup

2020 NHL Stanley Cup Final - Game Six

The Tampa Bay Lightning are the 2020 Stanley Cup champions, besting the Dallas Stars in Game 6 by a score of 2-0. Brayden Point scored his playoff-best 14th goal while Blake Coleman added one of his own to secure the team's first Stanley Cup since 2004. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 22 saves in the shutout, his first of the postseason.

"About time," Vasilevskiy said of getting his first shutout. "I said that already in the locker room. Just amazing. Obviously, we played extremely well, just gave up a few scoring chances. Just grateful that the shutout happened tonight at the most important time in our lives."

Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. He had 10 goals, 12 assists and was +13 during the playoffs.

"It takes a lot to be in a bubble for 80 days or whatever long it was," Hedman said after the game. "But it's all worth it now. We're coming home with the Cup."

The NHL resumed the season following a months-long shut down due to the coronavirus and played the rest of the season and the playoffs in two bubbles in Canada. The Western Conference played its games in Edmonton, while the Eastern Conference played in Toronto. The bubble worked as the resumed season went off without a hitch. The league conducted more than 31,000 tests, and there were zero positive coronavirus cases reported among players, coaches, and staff.
