Paul, Harden Create Looks Aplenty in Preseason Opener

posted by Ben DuBose -

It was an encouraging start to the preseason for the Rockets in Oklahoma, where they beat the Thunder, 104-97, on Tuesday amid a game-high 21 points from Eric Gordon (21 points, 6-of-8 from three-point range, 24 minutes).

The Rockets connected on 20-of-42 shots from behind the arc in three quarters playing alongside Chris Paul and James Harden, who combined for 17 assists and led Houston to 90 points in those opening 36 minutes.

In my postgame episode of Locked on Rockets, I explain my primary takeaways from the opener — including rave reviews for the two stars, the importance of Gordon and Trevor Ariza staying fresh, and positive contributions from newcomers P.J. Tucker and Luc Mbah a Moute.
