The 35-year-old forward was traded to Memphis in July purely to cut costs, with the Warriors facing a hard salary cap after getting D’Angelo Russell as a signed-and-traded player for Kevin Durant.
Led by 2017 and 2018 MVPs Russell Westbrook and James Harden, the contending Rockets could certainly use Iguodala’s wing defense and knack for timely shooting (especially in Toyota Center). These types of traits may not be as important to the rebuilding Grizzlies, who could prefer to use most of their available minutes next season to evaluate younger players.
On paper, Iguodala makes much more sense in Houston than Memphis. But the devil is in the details:
