Texans Head Coach Bill O'Brien

“Yeah, the first thing is, it’s kind of like, it is a little bit odd. I wouldn’t be telling the truth if I said it wasn’t odd. I mean, this is odd. I’m looking into a camera, there’s your face on the screen. This in and of itself is odd. I certainly don’t have a face for Zoom, I can promise you that. A lot of it is very unique.
“I think the way we structure practice, really the way we always have – in the beginning of training camp you have a script. You’re trying to get installations, making sure that you get all your plays in, your situations. You have a checklist, you have a script. You’re just calling it off a script. As training camp goes on, the mode that we’re in right now, there’s really no script. I’ll call out the situation. Anthony (Weaver) and Tim (Kelly) are on opposite sides with their units. They’re substituting, they’re calling the play based on what I’ve yelled out."

Defensive End J.J. Watt

“Yeah, it has been a bit of a weird time with the COVID testing every day, the social distancing, everything that we’re doing that’s different from a normal training camp. But today, I don’t know if I was surprised by it, but it felt like the first time you got to put the pads on as a rookie in the NFL. You put the pads on and things are different. It’s football. It’s real football. All of that stuff kind of melted away for a couple of hours out there. It’s real football. You get to hit. You get to pop the pads. You get to just be physical. It was fun. I got that old school feeling and it felt really good.”

Quarterback Deshaun Watson

“It feels good to be able to be back with the guys. These past two weeks have been awesome and now the first time putting the pads back on, getting some thud and some clapping going on throughout practice. It brings up the energy and the intensity and everyone was ready and prepared for that. Practice went well and we got the job done. We got the work we wanted to put in. We’ve got to work to correct the mistakes later on during the meetings and keep pushing forward.”
