Astros Advance to Third World Series in Five Seasons

HOUSTON, TX– The Houston Astros have earned a berth in the World Series for the third time in the last five seasons following tonight’s win over the Boston Red Sox in Game Six of the American League Championship Series.

The victory also earned the Astros their fourth trip to the World Series in franchise history (2005, 2017, 2019, 2021).

The Astros now await the winner of the National League Championship Series is to find out who their World Series opponent will be. The Atlanta Braves currently lead the Los Angeles Dodgers after five games in that series, 3-2. If the Braves win that series, the Astros will host Games 1 and 2 of the World Series at Minute Maid Park. If the Dodgers are victorious, Games 1 and 2 would be at Dodger Stadium.

POSTSEASON SUCCESS

Since 2017, the Astros have played in more postseason games than any team in the Majors (66) and have more postseason wins (39-27, .591) than any AL club in that span. The Dodgers are T-1st with 39 wins.

In 2021, the Astros became just the second team in history to advance to five straight ALCS, matching the Oakland A’s of 1971-75. Notably, the A’s advanced to all five ALCS by winning their division only. The Astros have had to win an ALDS each year before advancing to the ALCS.

AT THE HELM

With tonight’s win, Dusty Baker becomes just the 9th manager in MLB history to win pennants in both the AL and NL. He won the NL Pennant in 2002 while managing the San Francisco Giants. Baker is now 15-8 in the postseason as Astros manager, giving him the best postseason winning percentage in franchise history (.652).
