5 Paths The Texans Could Take At QB In 2022

I believe there are 5 paths the Texans can take at QB next year. I've listed them below and go through the positive and negative of each. Plus some options that are mostly terrible it feels like but could all be realistic.

1 - Nothing new

A QB battle between Tyrod Taylor and Davis Mills is definitely on the table. It honestly might be the most likely scenario but that's a tough sell to your fanbase that is already checked out.

2 - Rookie QB

A rookie QB will likely spark the fans interest the most but who are the best options? Matt Corral from Ole Miss, Malik Willis from Liberty and Carson Strong from Nevada are my top 3 QB's in the upcoming draft right now. So far I would say Corral and Willis will be the top 2 off the board and the most likely to go in the top 10. A lot can change of course with a ton of college football and the pre-draft process. The problem? I'm not sure either will really be worth a top 3 pick because of the elite defensive prospects in this years draft. A trade down to get one of these guys and getting more assets would be attractive with how depleted this roster is for the Texans.

3 - Still early but another team has given up

Tua, Daniel Jones & Jalen Hurts are the names that come to mind for me here. I also chose these 3 QB's because I believe the teams they are currently on will be the main players in a Watson trade. I would absolutely not take this path but we can't rule it out.

4 - One last shot at redemption

Ryan Tannehill has been the story of redemption after his time in Miami and Sam Darnold as been the total opposite.

So here are the names I've come up with that fit this mold. Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Jared Goff, Drew Lock and Mitch Trubisky.

For some reason, I think this is a decent choice. What if you get Trubisky here and he actually learned something from Buffalo and it's clear that Matt Nagy and Chicago was holding him back? It's doubtful but if you're not drafting a QB I would at least prefer the Texans to take a risk on someone that is under 30.

5 - We know what this veteran is.... why are you doing this Nick???

Could you imagine a world in which Jimmy G, Kirk Cousins or Matt Ryan are your starting QB next season? I can't. But they way the players and coaches talk about winning now, they make look at the veteran route and an improvement from Tyrod Taylor. This is a gross thought.

6 - BONUS PATH - AKA The Miracle

Deshaun Watson clears up his legal issues and wants to stay after Jack Easterby and David Culley are fired. LOLOLOLOLOL
