HOUSTON, TX -Astroline, the Astros popular offseason radio show, will air its second episode this offseason tomorrow night on SportsTalk 790from 6-7p CT. Astros television broadcasters Geoff Blum and Todd Kalas will serve as the co-hosts for the show, which features a pre-recorded interview with Astros Triple A Manager Mickey Storey.
In addition to listening along on SportsTalk 790, the show can be heard live on the iHeartRadioApp.
All Astroline shows, which are presented by Karbach Brewing Company, are scheduled to broadcast on SportsTalk 790, but are subject to change due to scheduling conflicts. Thursday’s show is the second of a scheduled 10 shows, which will air weekly on Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. CT during the remainder of the offseason. Additional show dates could be added at a later date.
This week’s Astroline will be hosted by Pluckers Wing Bar, which is located at1400 Shepherd Dr., Houston, Texas, 77007.
Storey has spent the last three seasons as the manager of the Astros Triple-A affiliate. In his first season with the Skeeters, Storey led the team to a 75-55 record, winning the Triple A West East Division title. The Skeeters owned the second-best record in all of the Triple A West. The former Major Leaguer helped lead Triple-A Round Rock to the top record in the Pacific Coast League in 2019 (84-56), winners of the American Southern Division. The team went on to advance to the Pacific Coast League Finals.
Blum will be returning for his 10th season on the Astros television broadcast team in 2022, his sixth as the everyday color analyst for Astros telecasts. Blum, who retired after 14 Major League seasons as an infielder (1999-2012), made the transition from the playing field to the broadcast booth in 2013. During his playing career, Blum had two stints with the Astros, totaling five seasons in Houston (2002-03, 2008-10). Throughout his tenure with the Astros, Blum hit .259 with 228 RBI, 46 homers, 77 doubles and a .711 OPS. A switch hitter, Blum was known as one of the top pinch-hitters and utility players in the game, appearing at four infield positions for nine straight seasons (2000-08). He appeared in the postseason three times in his career (2005-06, 2011).
Kalas enters his sixth season as the Astros lead play-by-play television broadcaster. Kalas, who is the son of Hall of Famer and former Astros broadcaster Harry Kalas, has over 25 seasons of experience as a broadcaster in professional baseball. Prior to joining the Astros, he spent 19 seasons (1998-2016) as part of the Tampa Bay Rays TV broadcast team. He also had stints with the New York Mets radio (1992-93) and Philadelphia Phillies television (1994-96) broadcast teams.
