Carlos Correa is heading home to Houston.
According MLB.com's Brian McTaggart, the Astros have acquired the former No. 1 overall pick from the Minnesota Twins in a blockbuster deal ahead of Thursday's 5 p.m. deadline for a slew a prospects. The details on the trade return have yet to be announced.
Correa, a three-time All-Star, was willing to waive his no-trade clause to reunite with Jose Atluve and the AL West Club he helped win a title with in 2017. In his six-year, $200 million contract that he signed with the Twins in 2023, there was a no-trade clause added to to deal.
With Issac Parafes done for the regular season, the Astros began conversations to bring in Correa as another option in the infield. A fixture in the run for Houston toward a 2017 World Series crown, he's expected to play third base in the reunion in Houston.
Over seven seasons with the Astros, Correa batted .277 with 489 RBIs and 122 home runs.
