This morning, racing journalist Adam Stern dropped a huge announcement that 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson will run both the Indy 500 and the Coke 600 in 2024. He will drive for the McLaren racing team with Rick Hendrick's and Chevrolet's backing.
This will be the 10th time a driver will run both races as John Andretti, Tony Stewart, Robby Gordon, Davey Jones, and Kurt Busch all attempted the double in their careers. (It's worth noting that brothers Bobby and Donnie Allison also ran the 500 in the 70s as well.) Only Tony Stewart completed the full 1,100 miles back in 2001. This will be huge for the sport, and hopefully, we will see more drivers attempt this feat in the future.
