With the game tied at three and one out in the bottom of the 9th, Yuli Gurriel hit a walk-off RBI single to give the Astros a 4-3 win over the Chicago White Sox. Thurday night marked Gurriel's first game winning hit in his Major League career.
Tony Kemp worked a walk to lead off the bottom of the 9th and advanced to third on a single by Marwin Gonzalez. A struggling George Springer tied the game at three with a bloop single to left, scoring Kemp. Alex Bregman walked to load the bases for Jose Altuve. After an Altuve strikeout, Gurriel delivered his heroics.
Justin Verlander struck out 10 over 7.0 innings while only allowing four hits. Joe Smith pitched a scoreless 9th and got the win in his first action since June 6.
The Astros will continue their series against the White Sox tonight at Minute Maid Park.
