Speaking with the media on Wednesday, Astros owner Jim Crane discussed a number of topics, including the impending free agency of pitcher Gerrit Cole.
Crane said the team may make a run at re-signing Cole, but it's something they will consider in the offseason. There is the fact the Astros have $68 million committed to just Justin Verlander and Zack Greinke each of the next two seasons, and adding Cole could push the team into the competitive balance tax.
"He’s had a great year, he’s young and he’s going to likely demand a big salary,” said Crane
