In one of the biggest trades of the NBA offseason, two star players got to face off against their former teams. Former Thunder-now-Rocket Russell Westbrook took on his old team with former Rockets point guard Chris Paul returning to Houston for the first time. The Rockets, who trailed at the half, outscored the Thunder 39-18 in the 3rd quarter, and held on to win 116-112.
James Harden led all scorers with 40 points, while Russell Westbrook fell just short of a triple-double with 21 points, twelve rebounds and nine assists. For the Thunder, CP3 had 15 points, five rebounds and four assists.
The Rockets improved to 2-1 on the young season, and will begin a four-game road trip that starts Wednesday in D.C. taking on the Wizards.
