Returning home after winning three straight games in D.C., the Astros bats were mostly quiet against Stephen Strasburg, and the Nationals won Game 6, 7-2, forcing a decisive World Series Game 7 on Wednesday night at Minute Maid Park.
The Nationals got an early run off Justin Verlander, as Anthony Rendon knocked in Trea Turner on a 1st inning RBI single. But the Astros answered in the bottom of the 1st with solo homeruns from George Springer and Alex Bregman. However, that's all the offense the Astros would get on the night, as Strasburg settled in pitching 8 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts.
Verlander lasted just five innings, giving up solo homeruns to Adam Eaton and Juan Soto in the 5th, with three walks and three strikeouts. Rendon would hit a two-run homerun in the 7th off Will Harris to make it 5-2 Washington. Rendon struck again in the 9th, with a two-RBI double that gave the Nationals a 7-2 lead.
Game 7 will be Wednesday night on our sister station NewsRadio 740 KTRH, as the Rockets air on 790. We will join the Astros game in progress on 790 following the conclusion of the Rockets game.
