After the game, Manager Dusty Baker clarified it is a forearm strain and said Verlander would be "shut down for a couple of weeks" and would re-evaluate him at a later date. Baker would not say he is done for the season.
Verlander took to Twitter after the reports surfaced and clarified, "The report that I’m currently missing the rest of the season is not accurate. There is a forearm strain... I’m hopeful that with some rest it will heal and I’ll be able to return soon. Thank you for all the well wishes."
