HOUSTON, TX– Astros RHP Josh James underwent surgery on his left hip on Friday to repair a labral tear, General Manager James Click announced today. Recovery time will be approximately 6-8 months.
James initially injured his hip during an outing on August 20 at Colorado, which resulted in a stint on the Injured List (Aug. 21-Sept. 8). Upon his return, James posted a 1.35 ERA (1ER/6.2IP) in his final six appearances of the regular season with eight strikeouts. James also appeared in three postseason games in 2020 (4 IP, 4 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO).
For the regular season, James was 1-0 with a 7.27 ERA in 13 appearances (2 starts) with 21 strikeouts. For his career, he is 8-1 in 68 appearances with a 4.60 ERA and 150 strikeouts in just 101.2 innings pitched.
