No. 17 Houston Outlasts No. 14 Texas Tech

FORT WORTH, Texas- No. 17/18 Houston Men's Basketball used a fast start to take down No. 14/13 Texas Tech, 64-53, in the final game of the Southwest Showcase inside Dickies Arena on Sunday.

The Cougars (3-0) were led by sophomore guard Marcus Sasser, who finished with 17 points in his return to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The sophomore finished 5-of-14 from the field and hit three treys in the win over Texas Tech (2-1). Junior guard Quentin Grimes added 15 points and and seven rebounds, while freshman guard Tramon Mark recorded 11 points off the bench. Senior guard DeJon Jarreau filled the stat sheet with eight points, nine rebounds and five assists. 

Houston jumped out to a 37-19 halftime lead before holding off the Red Raiders' second-half surge. Sunday's game was the first ranked matchup between the Cougars and Red Raiders in series history. 

Houston returns home on Saturday to take on South Carolina inside the Fertitta Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT and the game will air on KPRC 950AM.
