The Astros returned home to open up a 10-game home stand Monday night by welcoming the Detroit Tigers to Minute Maid Park. Houston held off a late rally by Detroit to win the series opener, 5-4.
Wade Miley battled through 5.2 innings to earned his 12th win of the season. Miley allowed three runs on 10 hits while striking out eight. Roberto Osuna recorded his 28th save, striking out two to close it out in the 9th.
Yuli Gurriel led the offense with two hits and two RBIs. Gurriel was the only Astros hitter to have a multi-hit game. Robinson Chirinos and Yordan Alvarez each had an RBI in the victory.
Carlos Correa left the game in the 1st inning with back soreness. He is listed as "day-to-day".
Game two of the series will see Aaron Sanchez take the mound for Houston. Sanchez is looking to bounce back from his last outing where he allowed six runs. First pitch is scheduled for Tuesday night at 7:10pm.
