Rockets Obtain the 2nd Overall Pick in the 2021 NBA Draft

The Houston Rockets obtained the second overall pick from tonight’s NBA Draft Lottery for the 2021 Draft.

This marks the second time the Rockets have held the second overall pick, having selected Rudy Tomjanovich in 1970. The second overall pick has produced 16 Rookie of the Year winners, most recently Ja Morant in 2019-20 and Kevin Durant in 2007-08.

Houston also holds the 23rd and 24th overall picks. The Rockets selected three players in the first round three times in franchise history (1998, 2001, 2012).

Most mock drafts and experts expect the Rockets to be selecting from a mix of Evan Mobley, Jalen Suggs and Jalen Green, as Cade Cunningham is expected to #1 overall to Detroit.
