The Texans are signing former Los Angeles Rams outside linebacker Ogbo Okoronkwo, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.
Okoronkwo is a former Rams fifth round draft pick from Oklahoma who now joins his hometown team. He is a former Alief Taylor standout.
His four-year, $2.9 million contract expired after playing 13 games for the Super Bowl champions last season, recording 15 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles. The 6-foot-1, 253-pounder has 4 1/2 career sacks.
He was named the Big 12 co-Defensive Player of the Year along with University of Texas linebacker Malik Jefferson.
A second-team All-American, Okoronkwo recorded 76 tackles, 17 1/2 for losses, eight sacks and three forced fumbles in his final collegiate season.
