On Sunday, it was reported free agent shortstop Trevor Story is signing with the Boston Red Sox. With Carlos Correa leaving for the Minnesota Twins, the Astros were considered a contender for Story's services.
However, with Story now off the market, there are no more big name free agent shortstops still on the market. And for now, it appears the Astros will go with internal candidates already on the roster to fill the void at shortstop. Those options include Aledmys Diaz, Jeremy Pena and Niko Goodrum.
Joel Sherman reported the Astros were a finalist for Story, but were outbid by Boston.
