It was an intriguing Frech Grand Prix with leaders crashing, bad strategy calls, and a powerhouse team bouncing back. The race started with Charles Leclerc taking an early lead but on lap 18, his rear tires lost grip causing him to spin in sector three into the tire barriers. After this, his championship rival Max Verstappen inherited the lead and never looked back to his second consecutive French Grand Prix victory. It appeared that Leclerc's teammate Carlos Sainz was going to carry the banner for Ferrari as he was charging through the field and had moved all the way to the podium after passing Sergio Perez for third but Ferrari made a puzzling decision to decide to pit. Sainz would leave pit road in ninth out of contention for the podium. Mercedes was able to bounce back from the doldrums as Lewis Hamilton and George Russell took two spots on the podium as they finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Russell and Perez battled for quite a bit and made contact at one point but both moved on. Another team that was impressive was the Alpines, both their drivers Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon finished in the points with 6th and 8th place finishes. Next week we head for Budapest for the Hungarian Grand Prix. While the Red Bull and the Ferraris are still the teams to beat, Mercedes seems to be back on track and will atleast compete for podiums. Team Ferrari will need to figure out their issues as well if they want to compete for the title but races like today have not been helping their cause. We are in for an interesting ride at Hungary before the summer break.
