The Astros run of dominance in the American League continued tonight as they defeated the New York Yankees to complete the sweep of the best-of-seven ALCS. This marks the first time in franchise history that the Astros have swept a best of seven game series. The Astros will make their fourth appearance in the World Series in the last six seasons and the fifth overall World Series appearance in franchise history.
Awaiting the Astros in the World Series is the Philadelphia Phillies, who have shocked the world this October, making it to the fall classic as a wild card team in the National League. This will mark the third straight World Series that the Astros will face an opponent from the NL East. The Astros fell to the Atlanta Braves in six games in 2021 and in seven games to the Washington Nationals in 2019.
The World Series will kickoff at Minute Maid Park on Friday, with game two following on Saturday. The series will shift to Philadelphia starting on Tuesday for potentially three games, before returning to Houston for the final two potential games the following Friday and Saturday. The Astros will be seeking their second title and first since 2017, while the Phillies will be seeking their third, last doing winning it all back in 2008.
