With the 28th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, the Houston Astros selected Nebraska infielder Brice Matthews. Matthews hit .359 this season with the Cornhuskers, with 20 homeruns, driving in 67 RBIs and 47 walks.
Matthews was a Big Ten All-Freshman selection in 2021, and was an Academic All-Big Ten in 2022 and 2023. Matthews played his high school ball at Atascocita High School in Houston.
