Michael Brantley continues to work his way back from a shoulder injury, rehabbing with the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, but seems to be getting closer to a return to the Houston Astros.
Brantley last played a big league game for the Astros on June 26, 2022. But it's sounding like he could be back with Houston this coming week.
Speaking to Robert Ford on the Astros network pregame show on SportsTalk790, GM Dana Brown said: "The next step is joining the team on this road trip, and then hopefully we can see him maybe potentially in the lineup by Tuesday. We're feeling really good about him coming back."
Manager Dusty Baker did caution, "We'll just have to wait and see how he feels."
Brown said after Brantley's recent minor league games, "There's no discomfort, there's no pain. He feels pretty good. And oh what a joy it would be to get that bat back in the lineup."
